The classification controlled drug (CD) is applied to all medications that have a high risk of being misused or abused. While some have very important clinical uses, others are used solely for recreational purposes and can lead to users developing serious addictions.(1,2)
The sale and supply of CDs are monitored by the police and fall under laws including the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 and the Human Medicines Regulations 2012.(3,4)
